Volunteering

The placements we offer at Volunteering Jobs Thailand are constantly being updated. Our contacts and management resources allow us to add new volunteer locations from time to time.

The map above shows our most popular volunteering locations.

Choose your placement

- It's really simple. Write us an email - info@volunteeringjobsthailand.com - or fill out the form on the contact us page and we will inform you of the various locations and opportunities available at that time.
- We will also highlight placements that require the most assistance or would benefit the most from your help.
The photos above show some of our schools and the workshops we have done.

Choose the place and the type of volunteer work then let us do the rest.
Perhaps you would enjoy your placement even more if it were in the mountains, the rice paddies, or along the many border regions (neighbouring Burma, Laos, or Cambodia). With us you have that choice.

It's not always the location that's important but the tasks involved at specific placements. We do ask for all volunteers to be open minded and clear with the type of volunteering they would like to do so we can find the correct placement for you.

Volunteer Locations:

Locations and placements can change from time to time. This may be due to school holidays or volunteer placements being full. If this does occur we will be happy to offer you another location and position in a similar area or one that is to your liking.

Placements can also depend on specific needs and requirements from schools. There may be circumstances that arise which leave schools without a volunteer for some period of time. We try to take this into consideration when we place each volunteer.

Tak

Location: Tak Province - Bordering Burma (convenient for visa runs)

Time to Bangkok: 7 1/2 hours

Type of work: Thai schools and refugee camps. Teaching children and teenagers as well as young adults. Local schools can consist of just a few students to a few dozen and schools are varied between simple bamboo shacks to more modern concrete buildings.

Areas of interest: Situated on the Thai-Burmese border, you will shortly notice the variety of cultures and how they mix.

Rivers and waterfalls are popular with locals for tubing or swimming on the weekends. Some of Thailand's largest and most beautiful waterfalls such as Umphang Falls can be found here.

Some placements are not only about teaching English but also teaching general skills such as painting, drawing, sports, board games, etc. These placements do not require you to have specific skills but simply ask you to teach any unique talent you may have.

Kamphaeng Phet

Location: Kamphaeng Phet Province - Real, unspoiled Thai countryside surrounded by mountains, jungle and rivers.

Time to Bangkok: 4 1/2 hours

Type of work: Traditional Thai schools. Thai culture and traditions can be experienced here. Classes are always fun and children really make the effort to learn from the volunteers.

Areas of Interest: Numerous waterfalls are only a few kilometres from the schools. In addition, there are secluded jungle rivers and mountain view points overlooking neighboring valleys.

Ancient ruins can be found in nearby provinces, perfect for a weekend trip.

An advantage is that this area is not overly touristed so you can comfortably visit the old ruins alone or with new friends you make - just be aware of the curious monkeys.

Old ruins nearby Kamphaeng Phet - perfect for an evening trip after school or on the weekend.

Mukdahan

Location: Mukdahan Province - Situated along the Mekong river, bordering Laos and 1 hour from Cambodia.

Time to Bangkok: 8 hours

Type of work: Rural country schools. Simple but rewarding, schools and placements in this area are always enjoyable. Located in a part of the country surrounded by rice paddies and farmland, you will begin to see how important community life is in terms of working together and helping one another.

Areas of Interest: The Mekong river, Cambodia, Laos, Visa runs and a mix of culture abound. Border regions always have something interesting to see or do: perhaps a festival, one of the many border markets or a variety of uniquely-styled temples.

River boat and fishing trips, as well as day visits to Laos, can be arranged.

Explore the many national parks in the area and find secret waterfalls that only locals know about or climb one of the many mountainous peaks.

Saraburi

Location: Saraburi Province - Farmland, rice paddies, and a large network of canals and rivers.

Time to Bangkok: 2 1/2 hours

Type of work: Small schools, often part of Temple complexes or far from major cities and transport routes. Some placements in this area offer home-stays to make your Thai teaching experience even better.

Classes and schools are typical of other locations, ranging from small to large class sizes in wooden buildings. Schools are fully equipped with teaching materials and noticeboards to display class projects you have helped with.

Areas of Interest: Check Google Images for 'Wat Phra Phutthabat Ratchaworamaha Wihan' in Saraburi for local temples and festivals in the area.

The canals and rivers can be great for swimming and cooling off after a day of teaching. Large Buddha statues can be found dotted around the countryside and part of the adventure is getting there.

The appreciation from the students and their families is tangible on certain market days. Often, you will be given a basket of fruit direct from their farms or a prepared lunch wrapped in a banana leaf. Kind gestures like these keep our volunteers reapplying time and time again.
